I would like to know what constitutes a CMS Item. Say I have 100 blog collection pages generated from a single collection list that contains 6 items (image, title, writer etc.)does this count as 6 collection items used or 600 items used. I plan to create a news heavy website using Webflow but need to know that it is going to be scalable seeing as there is a limit of 10000 collection items.
A CMS collection item is one unique item in a collection category.
Below is an example from one of my websites. I have 267 items in my Events category. I use those items in collection lists across 5 different pages. But they are still just 267 items. I just visualize them in different places. The limitation is based on # of items, not # of times you use an item in pages.
Thanks for clearing that up Alex
Alex - I signed up for CMS hosting and keep getting this message “You’ve created all the items allowed by your CMS Hosting plan. To add more, upgrade to Business Hosting.” I have totaled mine up and I have 50 across 5 categories/collections - the limit is 2000. I went into each of my collections and counted how many fields are in each and that total was only 340. What am I missing?
Take Ă look at this it might help you
Hi, I have the same error as @rofe. As far as i can tell I should be able to add 2000 items on my CMS Hosting plan but have been blocked at 50. What should I do?
Buy a CMS siteplan to remove the 50 item limit.
Thanks but as I say I already have the CMS hosting plan. I’ve been in touch with support and turns out it was a big their end.
I’m glad your issue is being resolved. Looks like I missed your clarification. Thanks for the update.
Did you recently signup for or changing hosting. I had switched hosting with cams from one project to another. Their mistake in the first place. Had to email them and they had to flip a switch that they missed and it is working now. Send them an email ASAP cause it took 2 days.

It’s been a while but just recently I stumbled across the same issue in where I was unsure on how to exactly count Webflow CMS items - it’s a bit confusing with the limits and what is being shown in the projects General → Overview section etc.
So I wrote to support and compiled a little overview today with the results in our blog. Maybe it’s a little bit of help for future readers of this thread with the same question: How to correctly count Webflow CMS Collection Items // mt.com
Thanks and sunny greetings
Marc
Before I launch into creating a collection, the text I’ve read says that there’s a 100-item limit in displaying a collection; does that mean that each collection has a 100-item limit but beyond that they won’t be displayed, or that it’s a “hard” limit of 100 items when creating a collection? If it’s the former, wouldn’t paginating a 100+ item collection solve the problem of displaying the items?
For example, I have a die-cut catalog of 300 items with 20 different “flavors” of die-cuts, e.g., pets, bookmarks, transportation, holidays, etc.; there can be a separate collection so they can filtered using Reference fields (using Jetboost.) Can I just dump all 300 items into one collection and use pagination/filtering to display < 100 items at a time?
