Maybe I’m missing something, but is this not a feature that exists? Seems like it would be a pretty basic thing to need, especially for people selling consultations / bookings (when user buys booking product, send link to booking platform, etc…)

Nope. Not currently supported so you are forced to build an external process to handle it or leverage an something like Zapier or Integromat.
