Page plan for a client

Hi there guys,
i’ve a couple questions that i’m struggling with it.

I’ve a client that wants one website, and i want to start something new here at webflow for the first time.

if he wants me to create a website for him, do i tell him to get the Page Plan CMS and i login into his account and edit? i think that page plan already has the workspace, right?
or is there another way to make it?
also, the domain i’ll be able to get throught the page plan right?
is that the right following steps or is a better way to do it?

thanks.

Hi Alysson,

Webflow has Workspace Plans for freelancers and agencies who are building multiple sites. A paid Workspace Plan gives you more extensive capabilities on the sites you build before they have a Site Plan.

Once you apply a specific paid Site Plan, that site’s design capabilities are then governed by that Site Plan alone, regardless of the Workspace it’s in.

The typical process for a Freelancer would often be;

  • Freelancer pays for a Freelancer Workspace Plan
  • Creates a site, builds the site, gets everything ready
  • Client then creates a Free Workspace Plan
  • Freelancer transfers the site to the client’s workspace
  • Client then adds a CMS Site Plan to the site

That’s the current standard path. To some degree, you can do the client’s part for them if you have access to their email, create a Webflow login with it, and then setup the Site Plan yourself with their credit card.

Soon this will all become more versatile when Webflow releases Client Billing and Seamless Site Transfers.

If you’re trying do this at zero cost to yourself, it’s more awkward, but you could have the client create a free “Starter” Workspace Plan, and give you their login. You then build the site there and immediately add a CMS Site Plan.

That will give you the ability to build out that site completely within their workspace, but the client begins paying for hosting immediately.

If you don’t already have one, you can get your domain name wherever, Webflow gives you the DNS setup instructions. I heard a mention here that Webflow does have some form of “free domain for a year” if you get an annual Site Plan? I’ve not checked or confirmed that, but you could research it.

So Ive to get the freelance workspace, that will give me the habilite to create the website with webflow.io domain, but with the full tools I need, is that right ?
Than I do the steps you said do transfer to him
Since he wants a e-commerce I can do all that with the CMS plan ?

Correct

You specified CMS plan above- if you need ECom you’d need to choose an ECom plan after the transfer.
