Meta Description for blog posts (CMS collections)

Hi,
I would like to add an individual meta description to every single blog post. I’m talking about the blog posts that can be found under CMS Collection. I do not have a field where I can add a meta description. Does anyone know if this is possible?

If you hover over the Blog Post collection the arrow icon should turn into a Settings gear where you can add new fields to the collection.

Adding to Caitlin’s notes-

On a collection page you just create a plaintext field in the collection, and then bind that field to your SEO description under your page settings.

However Google has just released an update that indicates they basically ignore the META now, and build their search snippet from page content.
