How to remove old website pages from Google search results?

Hello Community,

I haven’t found a solution elsewhere, so I thought to create a post.

I have recently designed a website for a client and, in order to see it on Google, I have followed the steps to insert it into the Google Search Console (added the sitemap.xml).

I did that when I had 9 pages. Then, the client asked me to remove some of them (not needed for the company) and now pages are only 3.

However, the old pages are still visible in the search results when looking on Google the name of the company (Oste Nostro).

Should I re-submit the new sitemap.xml?
Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Best regards,

Matteo

In such cases I prefer to resubmit these URLs. You should re-submit the updated sitemap.xml through Google Search Console to help Google crawl the new set of pages.

Plus, you can use the “Remove URLs” tool in Search Console to request the removal of the outdated pages. It may take some time for Google to update the search results, but this should eventually reflect the changes.

So the choice is yours!
