Anyone know if I can I install and run a ecommerce template without a ecommerce plan?
The reason is that I´m talking to a friend who want to showcase products like if it was a ecommerce website, but he does not want to sell online, just to have a contact form and talk one on one.
I want to know this before I purchase the template
I suggest looking at Foxy.io as their product can be used as a catalog cart and converted to a sales cart at your convenience. You don’t need an e-commerce plan with Webflow to do it.
Hi @Neo237. What you’re after is possible with Foxy + Webflow. Foxy can be integrated with any purchase or custom built Webflow template. Manage products with Webflow’s CMS and allow customers to add products to cart and checkout without having to actually pay.
More info on our seamless Webflow integration can be found here: Webflow | Foxy.io I invite you to sign up for our unlimited free trial and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, need help getting started, or would like to see a proof of concept.
Great, so just to be clear. I can get a Webflow template and add the Foxy service to it with the unlimited free trail to showcase all my products with price, but without getting into the ecommerce plan with weblow or price plan with foxy. is that right?
Hi @Neo237.
To confirm, you’ll still need a paid plan with Foxy when you’re ready to go live, but our unlimited free trial allows you to build and test for as long as you need to.
Correct, Webflow Ecommerce plan is not needed and Foxy will integrate with any template. Let us know if you have any other questions. Also, if a phone/Skype call would be helpful, we can make it happen.
Just to be sure, returning to the innitial question, @webdev is it possible just to purchase an ecommerce template, install it and use it with a normal hosting without the “cart” or shopping abilities?
I have not done what you asked and I don’t use Webflow e-commerce at this time for some client specific reasons. @nelson or someone from the WF team might be able to address your question.
I do know that enabling E-commerce, installs additional JavaScript and template / pages that will become part of the project forever as there is no way to uninstall them without a restore. There was a thread recently that spoke to your question. I don’t have it bookmarked but will try to find it for you.
I’ve confirmed with the Webflow team that to use any Webflow Ecommerce features, you’ll need to have a Webflow Ecommerce plan. Maybe someone from the team can chime in and confirm.
I also need to know the answer to this as it’s extremely important for me. @Neo237 did you find an answer?
To clarify, I want to buy an e-commerce template that I like. However, I DO NOT want to use the e-commerce features at the moment, so I want to be on the CMS plan. Can someone at Webflow or a member who knows tell me if I can pay for a CMS plan with an e-commerce template. I will not be using it for e-commerce.
I am happy for @webflow to check my site to see that I am not using e-commerce functions.
I need an answer to this please as most of the Webflow templates I like often have e-commerce built-in plus I would like to future protect myself.
Hi @foxy
I’m a bit late to the party, but I have been searching for this for a looong time. Just to be clear about the fees I’m likely to incur: If I’m not billing the customers at checkout (like the OP asked), will I still get the 15¢ charge?
Also, can I build a store like this on foxy’s standard plan?
And finally, what happens when the client goes to checkout? Can I hide the Credit Card payment options? Will I get a form with his order? Can I customize the checkout tab and button?
Hi @fredericG.
Thanks for getting in touch. I have answered your questions below:
Just to be clear about the fees I’m likely to incur: If I’m not billing the customers at checkout (like the OP asked), will I still get the 15¢ charge?
Our pricing starts at $20/mo or $180/yr. This includes your first 100 transactions each month. Anything over that will get a .5% transaction fee with a minimum of 1 cent and a maximum of 15 cents. This applies to orders with a non-payment as well.
Also, can I build a store like this on foxy’s standard plan?
Yes, absolutely.
And finally, what happens when the client goes to checkout? Can I hide the Credit Card payment options? Will I get a form with his order?
The payment section will be entirely hidden and the checkout page will only ask for the info you configure (ex: name, email, etc.)
Can I customize the checkout tab and button?
All Foxy templates are 100% customizable with your own html, css, and js, allowing you to modify the design and look to match your brand. More info here. Also, we have step-by-step instructions for adding a custom header/footer to your Fox templates in Webflow here.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any follow up questions: hello@foxy.io
I dived into Foxy.io, but it’s somewhat code-intensive (not to say that a programmer would have difficulty, but as a designer with basic programming skills, it’s heavier than I expected). In any case, I’m looking for ways to build an “order” store (where customers do not get charge), but the platform seem built for regular orders. What am I missing?
Thanks!
Hi @fredericG
For most use cases, if any code is needed, we generally have it on hand for you. So if you can copy/paste, you should be good.
If products need prices, but you don’t want to charge customers at checkout, you’d use our Purchase Order option. This can be customized to say anything or be completely hidden. This is a paid only feature, but please email us and we can temporarily enable it for your store so you can test: hello@foxy.io
For anyone still reading this thread, just create a CMS site. If you’re not making any sales, no need for ecommerce functionality. You can use Shopify light if you want to keep track of your inventory. Just costs you about $5 a month.
