CMS HELP: Collections not loading

Running a restore from 2 days ago

I am not sure what is going on. But we have major speed issues, Coupled with the templates vanishing this morning.

Can one of the webflow team tell us why and how this is happening?

Hi @laveritalondon @hjeror

Our team is working at high priority to resolve this as quickly as possible.

Thanks in advance for your help and patience. I’ll be sure to post back here as soon as I have more information for you.

Thank you. I am not even able to make any changes in the Designer now, I can’t click on anything.

Thanks for letting me know @laveritalondon

I just spoke with our engineers about this issue. We are narrowing down the issue now getting closer to finding the root cause.

I’ll continue to provide updates as I receive them.

Hi all,

Just wanted to add to this thread as well. We too are also having this same issue. All of our CMS collections have disappeared causing nothing but 404s and upon login get a dialog that I’ve never seen before.

I first experienced this yesterday around 3:00pm PST, reached out to support twice now but have not heard back yet but understand (from reading this thread) that the issue is being worked on.

I prefer to keep our project private, which is why I did not post the read-only link here, but I did share that in my email to support along with screen shots and etc.

Thanks WF support for making this a priority, we are completely stuck until this gets resolved.

Hi @Headset thanks for the report. I just submitted your ticket to the team. I’ll reply back to you ticket once I have an update.

Much appreciated thanks

Hi @Headset @laveritalondon @hjeror @ro1091

Thank you again for posting about this.

Our team is still digging into the root cause of this and we will continue to do so until we find a solution.

For now, our engineers found a workaround that will help get you all back to production — Can you please try restoring your site to a previous version from August 20th? This is the day before the errors hit and caused this issue.

Here is an article that will help clarify how to restore a backup version: Save & restore backups | Webflow University

Please let me know if this solves the problem.

Thanks @brando

I did a restore back to the 20th and about 85% of our CMS content is back up. We have a section on our site (CMS based) that shows a top 10 list of products in various markets, and when I click on links to access the top 10 lists I still get 404s.

On top of that I will have to do some rework on a landing page that is critical to a launch date that we slated for today. I have been hopeful up until this point but now I’m feeling rather bummed that we have to hold back a big company initiative due to this issue.

I also just attempted to restore my site to a previous version to no avail. While the ā€œupdate slugā€ error message no longer pops up when I log in to the designer, I still don’t have any collections or collection pages.

The majority of the content on my site is populated from collections - having to recreate everything can not be an option and time is running out for an impending product launch that I have to prep the site for. I have now been completely blocked out of my site since August 21st at about 3pm.

Just created a CMS collection and I can’t seem to get it to publish. Is this still an issue or am I not doing something right? Thanks.

UPDATE: Here is what I am now seeing after the temporary fix that WF suggested - which was to restore a back up from 8/20 two days before this issue occurred…see link below.

I am now unable to make any edits within any of the pages on our site. Once I double click within a div to make it editable, the page disappears on me, I have to refresh the page, the project reloads and gives me the ā€œUpdate Page Slugā€ dialog once again. Also, all of my collections disappear again like they did when this issue first occurred.

This is just awful. Is there anything you can do here WF? As I mentioned in a previous post, this issue is holding back a product launch for us which was slated for two days ago. It’s already bad enough that I will have to redo two days worth of work because I had to restore our site back to 8/20. This is awful.

@Headset @hjeror

Thanks for letting us know.

EDIT: Our team was able to uncover the root cause of the issue and we are working on pushing fixes now.

I can definitely understand the frustration here and we hope to have this resolved as quickly as possible for you.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

@ConsignorConnect that sounds like a separate issue — can you please contact our team here with the details?

Much appreciated @Brando

@Brando I probably should have asked before but do you have an ETA on this issue? What kind of details have your engineers been telling you? Any kind of info would be super helpful here.

Thanks,

@Headset

I just got word back from our engineers that the fix is nearly ready to deploy. Our QA team is going through the fix right now and it should be ready to go once they are done. I can’t give a for sure ETA on this, but it should be resolved today.

Hi @Headset @hjeror @laveritalondon @ro1091

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention.

Our team has deployed a partial fix that should resolve most of this issue for you. Can you please try logging out of Webflow, then logging back in and check the Designer to see if the issue is resolved?

For now this fix should bring back all collections that were missing. There may still be some missing data within those collections, and our team is going to continue to work on that.

Also, if by chance you are still seeing the modal that says ā€œunknown templatesā€ (screenshot of this), then you’ll need to restore to a backup version from before Aug 21st.

Thanks in advance, and I’m standing by for your reply.

Hi @Brando

My site is fixed! As far as I can tell all of my collections are there and I’m able to view and edit my pages normally. I don’t see any missing data in my collections so far but when I return to the office on Monday morning I’ll check everything over thoroughly and be in touch if something seems awry.

Thanks for your attention on this!

So we deployed a backup from 2 days ago and it seemed to resolve the issue. But it didnt explain why we suddenly lost all 5000 of our articles and every single template suddenly became blank without any reason.

How can we avoid this happening again? I dont mind being patient because I know how much value webflow brings our company.

I have said this before and ill say it again we would happily pay 5 x what we pay now for a more responsive support channel… surely other big sites like ours would be happy to pay for a premium support tier which means you can hire more support staff
