I’ve tried looking for resources on this topic but I’m surprised they’re hard to come by! Maybe it’s obvious but I’m at a loss and would really appreciate some help.
I’ve been hired as a freelancer to help a client edit an existing Webflow site that they have. My question is: how do I go about getting access to their Designer so that I may make the changes?
I’ve looked everywhere and all I see are instructions on how to add collaborators on the Editor. That’s fine for CMS projects, but I need to make structural changes to the website and need access to the Designer. Surely, I’m not the first freelancer to have to do this!
I know Webflow is working on their Workspace feature, but is this something the client has to upgrade to to take advantage of?
Not all accounts have been moved over to Workspaces yet. Depending on when your client signed up, they may already have a Workspace account since all new accounts are using Workspaces.
If they have not yet been migrated to workspaces, they can purchase a Team plan, transfer their site from their personal account to the team, and then invite you to join the team.
Hope that clears things up. Let me know if you have any other questions.
The client does not have access to Workspace just yet so that leaves us with the Teams approach. They may have to consider it as a viable option if they plan on doing freelance jobs in the long term. For the moment, it’s been met with a little frustration, admittedly.
If I could make one feature request - make a site cloneable by a select few people. Right now it’s either publicly cloneable or not at all. Giving a few individuals cloning rights could alleviate a lot of the issues.
