Transferring Basic Site Plan and Free Dashboard Account

Hello!

I have a client who purchased the basic site plan. I used the “Charge to Client” link associated with the site plan and filled out all of their information in the form, so they have paid for the site plan.

What I would like to do next is have them set up a free Webflow account so they can access their own Webflow dashboard. After that, I want to transfer the site to their dashboard.

My question is: when I transfer the site, does the site plan go with the website, or is the site plan connected to my account? If the site plan remains with my account, how can I connect the site plan to their account? Additionally, if the site plan must stay with me, is there a way to grant them access to edit the content of the site?

Thanks for your help,

Mark

Hi Mark,

When transferring a site with an active plan from your Freelancer or Agency Workspace to your client’s Workspace, both the Site plan and any connected custom domains will automatically transfer with it.

To transfer the site:

  1. Navigate to Site settings
  2. Select Billing
  3. Click Transfer site
  4. Choose Send transfer request

Your client will receive an email invitation where they can either log in with their existing Webflow account or create a new one. Once they accept the transfer, the site will be removed from your Workspace and added to theirs. Note that they’ll need to add their payment card and re-authenticate any 3rd party apps connected to the site.

Hopefully this helps! If you still need assistance, please reply here so somebody from the community can help.

Hey again Mark-

Yes there is a seamless transfer option that handles the site plan and domain transfer along with the site itself. This is especially straightforward since you are already using client billing.

The plan transfers with the site, so once your client sets up their free Webflow account and accepts the transfer, the hosting and domains move with it. They’ll just need to re-add payment details and reconnect any 3rd-party integrations.
