Switching Site Plan from one site to another

hey there!
I have a question. We need to make significant changes to a client’s website that has been live for about a year. If the client duplicates the project and transfers it to our account, we make the modifications, transfer it back to their account, and then the client transfers the site plan from the old site to the new one—would this negatively impact SEO in any way? (Considering that we’re not changing any URLs and the new site will have “no-index” for the staging).

Thanks!

No that works fine. You could just keep it in their account as well using freelancer/agency invites, as long as only 1 or 2 of your team needs access.

SEO is driven by domain name, paths, content, just manage those changes and introduce any redirects where needed if you move/remove pages.
