Simplify site and billing handoffs with new client payments enhancements

We’ve introduced powerful new enhancements to client payments and seamless transfer workflows, making it easier configure client payments for existing paid plans and hand off projects to clients — with no downtime or need to reconfigure critical settings.

Here’s what you can expect if you have a Freelancer or Agency Workspace:

Frictionless billing handoff to clients: Previously, only new site plans could enable client payments without workarounds like downgrading to Starter or reconfiguring key settings. Now, any site on a paid plan in your Freelancer or Agency Workspace–whether it’s new or existing can be moved to client payments with no downtime or impact on custom domains or site indexing.

Hassle-free site handoffs: Before this update, only sites already using client payments could be seamlessly transferred from your Workspace to your client’s Workspace without affecting site plans or key settings. With this release, you can transfer any site with an active plan from your Freelancer or Agency Workspace—whether or not it’s on client payments—directly to your client’s credit card and Workspace.

Smooth billing transitions: We’ve designed these enhancements to handle real-world billing scenarios so that billing handoffs are simple:

  • If the site has exceeded bandwidth for 1 month, the transfer will go through and bandwidth usage will reset to 0.

  • If the site has been over for 2 consecutive months, the transfer can still be initiated, but the client will need to purchase the appropriate plan (and add-ons) to match the site’s usage before the transfer completes.

  • If a client picks up payment in the middle of the annual or monthly billing cycle, your Freelancer or Agency Workspace will receive a pro-rated credit for the time remaining on your subscription. This credit can be used toward future purchases in your Workspace.

Check out this Help Center article or our blog to learn more about using these enhancements.

Huge win , no more awkward downgrades or plan resets just to hand off billing. Makes client transitions smoother, especially mid-cycle when prorated credits kick in.

Hi @Veronica-Webflow

I really appreciate this update! Was waiting for this since Client Payments v1 came out.

I have one question that I haven’t seen answered yet: will our agency be able to give our clients access to Build Mode? Or will they only have access to Edit Mode?

Hi @Schuschi_Eyes ! You will be able to give your clients the role of marketer, which would grant them access to Build mode, or content editor, which would grant them access to Edit mode. The role of reviewer, which restricts clients to commenting, is also available with Client payments. Hope that helps!
