I’m considering transitioning my website from WordPress, hosted on a private server, to Webflow. Currently, I use a corporate Gmail account linked with my hosting. I have a few questions regarding this change:
How can I continue using my corporate Gmail after moving my site to Webflow?
Since Webflow doesn’t offer email hosting services, will I need to maintain my current hosting plan just for the email services?
Are there any plans for Webflow to provide email hosting in the future?
Does this mean I will have to pay for both Webflow and my private hosting to keep my email service running, as opposed to just the hosting fee with free WordPress?
Hi there - Webflow doesn’t have any inbuilt or linked relationship to email, but it sounds like you’d be using Google Workspaces that was just facilitated through Wordpress. I’d imagine that you can break this link but would still have access or be able to transfer your email service to Google Workspace standalone, if it isn’t already.
In short, you’ll still have to pay for a Google Workspace account - but this can sit separate to any website platform you’re using https://workspace.google.com/
Hey, you can (we do!) - I’m not the best on the technical front sorry, but we just use Google Workspace which ‘hosts’ the emails.
The records you’re talking about come into the domain side of things - we purchase a Domain through an external provider then just add the records in there.
I pay google workspace separate from Wordpress since it was GSuit, but Google Workspace ask for certain Domains, MX Records and all that stuff that you need to input into the hosting in order to work right?
Can I use Google Workspace without having a hosting for my emails?
Unless you change the mail service provider none of the related records in DNS would need to be changed and should be left alone. Web hosting with Webflow only requires a few CNAME, A records, and a TXT record to be changed/added. This is documented in the project settings and in the University.
No, Google workspace is the service that provides your email boxes, email sending, and delivery of mail to an inbox.
