I’ve just seen the new workspace plans come out. I haven’t got a full grasp of the impact yet but it doesn’t sound detrimental to the way I work.
What I’ve always been frustrated at is adding a new seat to my Agency plan doesn’t allow that person to have access to my clients alternative Workspaces.
Once we’ve finished a website I like to transfer it to a workspace my client owns and controls but also ensure I have access to make changes for a couple of months after going live as well as very likely ongoing support.
The problem has always been that I can’t have this be accessible by just myself but need the whole team to have access. Anyone in my agencies seats should have access to their account.
Currently this involves inviting multiple emails to have access or sharing passwords which isn’t a enjoyable professional experience.
That’s been a sticking point for us as well- just so you’re aware, the Webflow team is very aware of it, but of course it’s a significant engineering challenge.
The approach I proposed is to allow a workspace to guest-invite an Agency account directly, rather than guest-inviting only individual users who are in Agency / Freelancer accounts.
One challenge to this is that ideally it would be a multi-part chain. My Agency A often does work for other Agencies B who work in their client’s workspaces C. That’s a 3 workspace chain, and ideally, C invites B, and B invites A. This gives B the ability manage which users ( and invited agencies / freelancers ) have access to C’s project(s), with control over Site-Specific Access (SSA).
A lot of engineering, but it would enable such an incredible eco-system of freelancers and agencies. Almost like having a built-in skills marketplace.
