Installed Cloudflare, website slower?

I recently enabled installed Cloudflare (free version) to my webflow website danieljohnson.xyz to see if it’d improve page load speed; however, it seems to have slowed down my website according to various online speed tests.

The sites I used to test the website include:

• https://tools.pingdom.com/
• https://gtmetrix.com/
• Website Speed Test - Check Full Page Performance | KeyCDN Tools
• https://www.webpagetest.org/
• https://www.dotcom-tools.com/website-speed-test

I’m wondering that if it’s the free version of Cloudflare it won’t make a significant difference, just surprised it’s slower.

Changing one optimized delivery infrastructure for another won’t necessarily improve things. The most important optimization would be what you are delivering to the visitor. If you have bloat, then that won’t improve since the same bits are served.

Performance tuning is complicated and what is needed depends on many site-specific factors.
