Freelancer - Transfer CMS Workspace to Client

Hello all,

I have a project that I completed for a client and am planning to do a handover. However this is the first time we are doing this and I would like to make sure I am clear about the process. Especially the project is currently using the CMS siteplan

I will ask the client to do the following:

  1. Create an account on Webflow
  2. Add us as a Freelancer and Agency
  3. Downgrade the Project to a starter pack
    ---- here is already one problem I see: if the website is using a CMS and I downgrade, does that mean that the page is unpublished? What happens to the site and its editing features?
  4. Transfer the project to the client workspace
  5. Ask the client to upgrade to the CMS plan.

What can I expect from this workflow? are there going to be any downtimes? Any recommendations on how this can be optimized?

Hi Eren, I wrote a guide on this that may help you minimize that downtime to near-zero. Note you’ll lose the CMS plan on your current site since it cannot transfer, but if you’ve paid for e.g. an annual subscription, you can transfer it to another site within your workspace.
