Transfering a website to a client

Hey, I bought CMS annuall plan for a client. How do I transfer it.

It says " To continue you’ll need to [downgrade to Starter] first. If you have another site in this workspace, you have the option to transfer the site plan."

If I downgrade to starter and transfer it to the client, would that mean my client has to re-pay for the site plan, or can the client activate it?

Best regards,
Oscar

Site plans can only be transferred between sites in the same Workspace. Additionally, the site to which the Site plan will be transferred cannot already have a Site plan associated with it (i.e., the site receiving the Site plan transfer must be on a Starter Site plan before the transfer).

How to transfer a hosted site with an active Site plan

At the moment, you can’t directly transfer a site with an active Site plan. You’ll need to either transfer a duplicate of the site or downgrade the site to a Starter Site plan before transferring.

Since Webflow does not support transferring an active hosting plan outside or your workspace, you would need to reach out to support to see if they can credit unused time to the entity you transferred the site to. By default that is a no.

Keep this in mind before purchasing a site plan longer than 1 month.

so I have to downgrade then transfer, then My client has to buy the CMS plan again? Which means the same plan bought twice?

Yep. If you consider what you’re asking, you’ll realize that it’s tricky to transfer plans because you’d be billing someone else’s card once the paid term expires. Systems like Stripe aren’t designed to encourage those types of security vulnerabilities, so a new subscription has to be created.

Follow Jeff’s advice, he knows what he’s talking about.
