I am creating a new website for a client and I’ve created 2 different versions which I would like to test with you; one is more interactive and colorful (is it too much? a bit over the top?) and the second is cleaner and whiter…
Which one do you like best? (I haven’t yet created the mobile versions, desktop only…)

Is the first one too confusing? Or is it cool? What do you think?
Top job on the sites, both look incredible! Personally I prefer the first one as I found it easier to use. I think its just because I’m generally used to scrolling down as soon as I get onto any site. I don’t think it’s over the top at all, the use of full width video makes it dead clean. It would be nice on this first one if there was a title for each video as in the second one, maybe you could overlay it and embed the play button into a text box? I got bored and did a couple of (extremely quick!) jpegs from indesign of how it could work:
The second is definitely more minimal like you say (love love the title layout/font choice) but I just think it’d be best to stick with vertical scroll, as it took me a while to figure out how to horizontal scroll. On this second one I think the preloader works nicer than the first, wicked little kaleidoscope effect.
I think that the second one wins for me on the basis that it looks more professional than the first and though the first is really really cool, in terms of usability the hover cards aren’t the most intuitive to use
Personally my opinion:
I love the very first intro and pre-loader from #1 option and slider from #2. Even that usability of slider not too clear from first look. But I am sure you will find some solution
I think you might not have noticed (and that’s something I was afraid of) that the title box for each video is hovering to the side; you’d have to hover over these colored triangles on the edge of the screen for it to pop up… I guess that is telling that perhaps this design is not so intuitive after all… Or maybe because of a different screen size, the triangles didn’t show up at all…?
Anyways, thanks again for your time and for your commentaries, will take it all into consideration…
That’s why I needed your feedback, I was at that point in the design process where I can’t tell what’s working anymore, if you know what I mean, needed a second opinion…
Hello @AlanBorger! I personally prefer the first site. They both look stunning though, but as others might say, it is because of the horizontal scrolling.
