Does webflow have a background mp4 crash?

Hi!

I’m wondering if Webflow is currently experiencing an issue with background mp4. Any uploaded mp4 doesn’t seem to work. I’ve cleared all my Google Chrome cache and data, tried opening the site on Edge, but the videos just won’t play.

Here’s an example site I made for my client where the background mp4 used to work but now doesn’t on any browser: https://www.detailingcherry.com/.

Additionally, I’m working on a background mp4 for my own website, and even though everything is set up correctly, it works fine in preview mode but won’t play on the published site.

Is this a known issue, or is there a workaround?

Thanks!

The mp4 is playing fine for me- looks nice as well.

You could debug more through your browser dev tools and see what’s interfering on your system, but my guesses would be browser extensions like ad blockers or a VPN on your computer or router.

The issue doesn’t seem to be related to the browser, as I’ve tested it on multiple browsers with and without ad blockers enabled. I also cleared all data and reset everything to zero, but the problem persists. I suspect that Windows might be blocking it—my system recently updated from Windows 10 to 11, and the issue started right after that.

Again it’s playing fine here- I’m assuming it’s the car vid?
I’m also on Win 11, Chrome

You can probably learn more looking at the Network tab within your devtools.

All on the same network? I’d check the router then, and test from a different network.

I’ve been seeing increasing problems where routers are configured with antivirus software that uses a VPN, and the VPN has issues accessing certain servers and blocking legit content.

I’ve tested it on different networks, including a mobile hotspot and another router, but the problem persists. Interestingly, the videos work fine on my phone, which is connected to the main network. So it doesn’t seem to be a network issue I believe. And yes, it’s about the vid eo with the car  I’ll try something with devtools.

Hey!

I managed to fix the issue – turns out it was related to Windows performance settings. In the system’s visual effects settings (Control Panel → System → Advanced system settings → Performance → Visual Effects), some options were disabled, and that was blocking vid eo playback. After setting it to either “Adjust for best performance” or “Let Windows choose what’s best,” the problem disappeared.

Hopefully, this helps someone else facing a similar issue! Thanks for the suggestions.
