About the recent Seamless Transfers feature just launched, does this mean that when transferring, the client does not have to deal with DNS settings and the site will remain online?
“without affecting site settings”, “no disruptions” = no downtime?
Does anyone have an idea / tried yet? I cannot find a concrete answer anywhere.
Ideally but I don’t think it’s there yet.
I’m fairly certain the feature is still being refined.
I haven’t had a need to test it, but I understand that you may need to re-verify the domains, and if you’re using apps some of those may be impacted as well.
As with any deployment change, preparedness is best-
Make certain you have access to the DNS so that you can update the TXT verification records if needed
Choose a low traffic window to minimize any downtime
Capture any critical data, like the app configurations
I always export 301’s just be be sure they’re safe somewhere
Would love to hear how it goes after you get those projects transferred! The whole transfer process has been a notable pain point for our agency so my hope is that this update alleviates that.
I’d wager that ideal site’s (without special app connections like @memetican mentioned) are transferred seamlessly as this was a huge selling point of the feature — but given the huge potential for unknown variables you’ll probably want to expect to keep a close eye on things just to be safe.
I just received a reply from Webflow support, confirming that if the transfer is done correctly, the Seamless Transfer feature will enable site transfers with no downtime.
