I want to deploy a site in China. Do you know if there are any contraindications going through Webflow?
We want to use the Weglot service, do you know if the combination of Weglot and Webflow is compatible in China?
Hey! I’ve actually been through this process myself when deploying a site in China, so I can share what I’ve learned. Webflow can be a tricky platform when it comes to performance in China. In my experience, load times were painfully slow without any optimizations. Webflow itself doesn’t perform great due to how content is delivered, and it can lead to big issues for users in mainland China.
As for Weglot, while it’s a solid service for translations, combining it with Webflow in China can introduce even more complications, especially with content delivery speeds and blocked resources. I ended up going a different route and using 21YunBox. They have a China Website Performance Optimizer that took care of all those headaches for me—optimizing the site and ensuring compliance with China’s regulations.
Hi there! I understand you’re concerned about using Weglot to translate and localize your site for customers in China.
It can be quite challenging to deploy a site in China. However, Weglot uses an SEO-friendly integration like a subdomain- or subdirectory-based one, along with Cloudflare as a default CDN provider. So your site shouldn’t be blocked in China, and you can read Cloudflare’s documentation about this for more information: https://www.cloudflare.com/application-services/products/china-network/
