Cursor jumps to end of CMS field while in designer

I’m trying to edit a few products. When I click in the field, I can move the curser to wherever I like with the arrows, but as soon as I type a letter or press backspace, the cursor jumps to the end of the line.

It was reported a while ago here in the forum, but seemed to resolve itself.

Here is a screencast showing the behaviour.
CloudApp

Chrome and Safari both the same but only on one project oddly enough.

@Brando I’ve sent you the Read Only link

Things I’ve tried so far:

  • Incognito
  • Refreshing browser
  • Emptying Cache

No luck.

Hi @magicmark

Thanks for posting about this – good catch!

I did some testing and was able to reproduce the bug on this end. It looks like I can only reproduce it once when I first edit a text field, then after I’m able to click into and edit as expected without the cursor jumping.

I’ve reported this to the team, and we’ll look into finding a solution!

As always, I’ll share an update here as soon as I have one from the team.

@Brando

Just had an email from a customer too, that bug is happening in the editor.

Also, the very last character in a text field is not displaying when the line of text reaches beyond the field. It’s like the field padding is hiding it, spotted by my customer that one.

Hey @magicmark we just pushed out a fix for the caret jumping in the data manager :sunflower:. You might need to refresh the Designer/Editor to get the fix.

Also, the very last character in a text field is not displaying when the line of text reaches beyond the field. It’s like the field padding is hiding it, spotted by my customer that one.

For single line plain text fields we don’t grow the field to fit the content (but you should be able to use the keyboard arrows to get to any text that’s hidden). It sounds like you/your customer could be running into something else though.

Would you be able to get a screencapture next time you run into it to help us see what’s happening?

@YoavGivati That’s perfect now, thank you so much for the quick response, as editing was impossible earlier on!

It’s also not hiding the last character anymore, so whatever was causing that has been fixed too. I’ll tell them I did some code voodoo or something and take credit for that one :joy:

@brando thanks as always for the incredible support :vulcan_salute:
