It depends a lot on the volume of content, the nature of the table, and how you want to edit it. But for simple tables, I usually use a Markdown approach.
For larger more complex tables, I have a custom code solution for pulling and embedding content from external sources like Google Sheets or Google Docs. While adds a second browser request, it makes management of the tabular data easier.
