Blog category navigation

Hi all,

this may be obvious, but I don’t seem to be able to nail it.

Is it possible to have a side navigation of categories on the blog ‘landing’ page?

And when a client ads a new category from a post, the side nav is auto-updated, similar to how WordPress works (just to give a reference).

Thanks a lot

G

Hello @AGH

Absolutely! You need to create a CMS collection called categories. In the Blog page you need to design a sidebar that contains a collection list element. Next you need to connect the collection list element to the CMS categories collection. If there is a new category in the CMS collection it will be automatically added to the Blog categories sidebar.

Hope this helps.

If you need help feel free to text me.

The structure in general:

blog page

(home > blog)page:

  • Page list of all posts (without any filtering).
& sidebar collection list for categories (Usefull to convert this to symbol).

    Link setting:

collection pages

Two collections (posts & blog-category) & collection pages:

  • A.(home > posts > my-post)
  • B.(home > /blog-category/news)

For B page:

  1. Add posts collection list
  2. Add filter “current blog category”:

Done.

@PeterDimitrov @Siton_Systems I a trying to figure out what you have done here. Is there a video anywhere walking through these steps. I am not understanding how the linking to the category pages works.

Hey @Benjamin_Bachman

Not a video…Maybe tomorrow I can send a video back to you. It’s late here and I’m going to bed.
