Webflow Forms = SPAM!

Folks, what is going on with Webflow Forms and SPAM emails? In the past week or two alone, we’ve had five separate clients who all have their websites on Webflow. They are all complaining that they are getting bombarded with SPAM through their forms. We are trying to firefight the issue with ReCAPTCHA v2 and in some instances trying a honeypot method, but the bots seem to be clever enough to get around this. Webflow’s formal response is to use a 3rd party form subscription like Basin! Seriously, Webflow, this is not an adequate response… clients are already paying top dollar for your service. To suggest to them that they need to spend even more money as their Webflow form is incapable of stopping the bots is not a very good look. Is anyone else noticing a huge spike in spam mails through Webflow forms and has anyone found a proper workaround, that doesn’t cost the business even more in subscription fees?

I have noticed this as well. What has helped me is to go inside of the Recaptcha settings and make sure that the security strength is all the way up. See screenshot…

But yes I agree this is definitely getting worse.

hi @Bammedia & @supji this is a long time ongoing issue that is still not fixed. You can on this forum find countless requests that lead to only one correct solution.

If you are serious about your clients websites do not use wf form at any costs until WF fix it. and because the issue persist many months most probably it is not easy fix and will take more time to fix, if ever. :man_shrugging:

Webflow developers need to be making more noise about this. We use multipole different CMS platforms and none of them have any issues compared to Webflow which is seeing a HUGE jump in SPAM.

Hey Cormac, when you explore other options, the sad truth is that spam isn’t the only issue, and there are just better options than Webflow’s form submission handler. I use Basin because;

  • No spam issues
  • Better styling and branding of emails
  • Ability to auto-reply to the user who sent the form
  • Built-in file upload capabilities
  • No unsubscribe link issues
  • Actual line breaks displayed in multiline text content
  • More recaptcha options

If Webflow could fix the spam issue that would be great, but in truth the forms handler would need a major overhaul in order to make it reliable.
