Using multi reference as line items

Hi,
I have a CMS called members and another CMS called member-to-do-list which contains request tasks for the persons on the members CMS. Is it a sound approach to refer to items in the member-to-do-list CMS as multi-reference field in members CMS? All of the use case I’ve seen so far on using multi-reference are for tagging, categorizing. Has anyone tried using multi-refence beyond tagging, categorizing? Thanks so much.

The problem with multi-reference fields is that you are limited to only 5-10 references per CMS item. So, your member could only have a few todos. Using a reference field in Member-to-do-list that points to Member won’t have this limitation.

Why not have a field in the members list that’s called to-do and then populate that?
