Need more time to migrate user accounts before being sunsetted!

The announcement that the users feature is being sunsetted, and that we can’t add new users after January 2025, is really sudden and upsetting. I am a designer with multiple webflow websites with memberships and hundreds of users. This is a huge burden to have to migrate everyone to a 3rd party solution in a month and a half! Please please please give us more time to migrate! At least delay the moratorium on new users until after April.

I not only have to migrate my clients to a 3rd party membership tool. I have to redesign their websites for pages where content is shown or hidden based on member login.

Anyone else feel this way???

Your wish is granted.
Mostly because I think you misread the announcement

Directly from the announcement-

  • Starting January 31, 2025, you won’t be able to enable User Accounts on new sites.
  • Existing sites with User Accounts will be able to continue using the feature until January 29, 2026.
  • On January 29, 2026, the User Accounts functionality [will be shut down fully].

You have over a year before WUA is shut down, and new sign-ups etc should work through that period.

Highly recommend you chat to Duncan and the team at Memberstack- they’re doing a ton to help with migrations plus some huge discounts to make it much easier.

Please clarify your statement regarding user accounts going away.

Bottom Line - Will my CURRENT membership sites be unable to accept NEW members after January 31, 2025? Do I need to scramble to migrate to Memberstack or Outseta before January 31, 2025? Or do I have until January 29, 2026 to complete this migration?

This announcement reads that we can only allow new users through Jan 31, 2025. I read that was we can no longer add new users to existing membership sites, existing members will be grandfathered in until January 29, 2026.

This announcement reads the same way as above:

But this help center article makes it sound like we still can use and enable users on our existing membership sites, but we can’t start NEW membership sites, after January 31, 2025.

Which is it?

You’re confusing User Accounts the system ( aka “Memberships” ), with an individual user login account.

The announcement says that;

Bottom Line - Will my CURRENT membership sites be unable to accept NEW members after January 31, 2025? Do I need to scramble to migrate to Memberstack or Outseta before January 31, 2025? Or do I have until January 29, 2026 to complete this migration?

Why are you yelling at me?

I have the same docs you do, and they clearly say that Memberships is running until Jan 29 2026. If you need additional verification of that, you’d want to contact Webflow support.

I’m sorry - I’m absolutely not yelling at you - I was just trying to emphasize the new and current options. I am new to this community forum and you are marked as a community specialist. I thought you worked for Webflow. My bad. I really do apologize. I’ve sent this thread directly to Webflow. Have a good day.

I finally got clarification from Webflow…

Hi there,

This is Teira from Webflow’s Customer Support Team. Thanks for reaching out to us about this — I’m happy to help.

Visitors to the site will still be able to signup up until January 29th, 2026 meaning you will be able to accept users until this date.

For sites where the user account feature is not enabled, you would be able to enable this feature until the end of the grace period January 31, 2025. Sites already using the feature are not affected by this date. This means for sites that do not already have the user account feature enabled, they can enable the feature up until the end of January.

This, however, does not affect your client if they have already enabled user accounts and are already using the feature - they can continue to use it until January 29, 2026.

As of January 29, 2026, user accounts will no longer be available as a site feature.

I hope this helps to clarify a bit more but do not hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions. We’re here to assist.

My best,
Teira with Webflow Support
