'My Related projects' is broken, displaying same 2 projects on every page

Hello,

‘My Related projects’ is broken it is supposed to show other work or the next project pulling from the CMS list. It’s displaying the same 2 projects on every project page.

One thing to note: I wanted to change the order of my projects, so I added an order field to the cms, as per some direction in a tutorial. - Worked great. Not sure if this has had a knock-on to the related pages.

This is the template I’m working with

The template providers never answer any questions or emails…

Can someone help, please.

Thanks in advance : )

Hi there,

To help troubleshoot issues with related projects and Collection items, please provide more details about:

  • The specific Collection List settings you’re using
  • How your Collection items are structured
  • The relationship between your projects
  • What you’re seeing versus what you expect to see

In the meantime, you might want to check these common areas:

  • Collection List filter settings
  • Reference field configurations
  • CMS Collection relationships
  • Sort settings in your Collection Lists

Hopefully this helps! If you still need assistance, please reply here so somebody from the community can help.

Thank you, I went over again some of the videos I’ve watched and I totally I’ve fixed it! Was pretty simple, I applied some settings to the collections list. Thank you so much!

Hi, I think I spoke to soon, I’m able to apply a filter collections list, initially I set it to numerical order, adding the page number for the next project, I added this to all the project pages, and it was changing on the page as I was doing it thinking this was correct showing the next project in the order, however unless there is a delay updating, the same two projects stay the same on all the project pages from the last numerical update I have done. I tested ‘random order’ and it’s the same problem.

So to recap, I can apply settings to the filters, and set what I want to see on the page I’m editing, but it’s the same problem; regardless of the setting, it still displays the same 2 projects on all over the project pages…

Depends on what you want.
If your goal is simply to encourage exploration, and you want related projects then the common way is;

  • Collection list pointing to projects
  • Filter to the same category as the current item
    • OR, each item directly defines its related projects, and that multiref field is what you link your related project collection list to
  • Sorted randomly
  • Limited to 2 items in your design

If instead you want a next/previous navigation across an entire set of products, you’ll need a solution that can determine that.

Hiya, thanks for your reply. The collection is pointing to projects. Random sorting also does not work, will try filter…

Thanks Michael

Random sorting works fine but with Webflow’s CDN architecture it only re-randomizes every 12 hours.
