Localization troubleshooting

Hi! I just added two more Locales to our website but there are some problems:

  • The /jp and /ar doesn’t seem to work even when in Designer mode I already see those translated
  • Some text on the Homepage was not translated automatically even though I selected the Body and set translate, it’s the CMS text that it is not translated
  • I put a Switcher on the Homepage footer to change languages but when you go to the other languages it disappear

Can someone help, please?

Hi there,

The basic Localization functionality is available as a free preview in all Site plans, but publishing to secondary locales requires purchasing a Localization add-on. This add-on is necessary for subdirectories to function on your live site.

When using the Body element for translations, please note that content will only translate if a corresponding translation exists in your selected language. For your locale switcher to work properly, ensure that “Enable publishing to this subdirectory” is turned on in Settings panel > Localization for each locale you want to display.

For Arabic language support, Webflow automatically implements RTL (right-to-left) script for Arabic (ar) locales, regardless of whether the text has been localized.

Hopefully this helps! If you still need assistance, please reply here so somebody from the community can help.

Hi Carlo,

I’m uncertain what this means. You know how to switch the locales in the designer, that’s the primary way to view and edit localized page content. Same in preview mode, use the top locale switcher.

Everything looks setup correctly and appears to be publishing correctly.

CMS content is translated in the CMS itself, open that panel and you’ll see translation options per-field for for all fields. as you navigate through the CMS items.

When you localize components they effectively “freeze” the content. You can see your Footer is localized. Try de-localizing and re-localizing it, then republish to see if the locale switcher appears on your published site.
