Lightbox/multi-image for CMS

A while ago I built a site with a slider of photos on each collection page. Due to the limitations at the time, we set it up so each page would have 7 photos. BUT, we’d like to be able to have a variable number of photos. Now we have the multi-image field - hooray! problem solved!.. except…

I know we can’t have sliders connect to the multi-image field. Fine. I’d be happy with something that looked like the lightbox icon - 1 big photo above and thumbnails below.

How do you build this? I’m running into a wall with everything I’ve tried.

  1. I can’t link a lightbox to the multi-image field (only to the single image field)
  2. I can’t add a lightbox to a collection list (only a collection item)
  3. I can’t filter or limit the display for a multi-image collection list at all, or at least that control is not located where it would be for any other collection list.
  4. For that matter, I can’t even get a regular ol’ lightbox on a regular page to work. It just doesn’t pop up.

Yes, I have referred to both the lightbox and the multi-image help pages extensively.

thanks for your help!!

Here is my site Read-Only:

Hey :raised_hand_with_fingers_splayed:. I also experienced problems, but it turned out to be quite easy. I made a little video:

  • You can’t filter or limit collections with multiple images. I consider this the big flaw and hope that webflow will fix it.

  • You can’t interact with Collection list in any way. Only Collection item

@Bogette thanks - some things there I will have to try.

However, this doesn’t solve the issue of the appearance on the page, which is still a long list of giant images, not one big image with smaller ones underneath.

Hello again, @fatpuppy. I made a sample for you

Hey! Your link is broken; I’m working on a similar feature. Could you link another read only with a dynamic gallery?

Hi @AnnaG - Welcome to the forum. It is best to target a user via the @username to specify which users link you are referring to.

Hello, @AnnaG Sorry for the late reply. I created the gallery again. Links:
