Hey Everyone,
We’re Cloud Canal, and we make tools that let you build web apps in Webflow. Using these tools, we’ve built many successful applications using Webflow for the front end. To get a quick overview of what we do and how we do it, check out our process and offerings.
In a nutshell, we use Webflow to create the UI of our web app. Things like tables, grid lists, and forms are created as templates within the Webflow Designer. That’s where Cloud Canal Connect comes in. Connect is our 100% free low-code framework for building web apps; using custom attributes, it can populate these templates, hook up to external APIs, and more, all without leaving the Designer. Think of Connect as a middle ground between Finsweet Attributes and Wized.
Now in most cases, you’ll also need a back end to connect to. In the past, we’ve used Bubble or Xano. Today, we’re launching our own back end solution: Cloud Canal Core. At Cloud Canal, it’s our mission to abolish the no-code tax; products that focus on no-code users usually charged way more than products for full-code, and we want to change that.
Core is different from other no-code back ends because:
- it’s built on open source software (PocketBase), so you can say goodbye to vendor lock-in
- you can export your whole app (not JUST your data) and self-host at any time
- there are no arbitrary limits on records, users or requests
- you can store your data in the US or the EU
- it offers a crazy amount of bandwidth (2,000 GB for our smallest plan)
Currently, Core includes a database, user authentication, logs, and backups. Logic is the next feature we’re working on, and will let you build workflows for CRUD, API requests, sending emails, etc. (coming Summer 2025).
Because we’re just launching CC Core, we’re looking for users that are interested in providing feedback and want to help shape the development of our tools to suit their use cases. To say thank you, we’re offering free onboarding (as required), and free premium support directly from the product team.
Please let me know if you have any questions about/feedback on our ecosystem, and thank you in advance!
