Hi folks, I launched a site this morning, connected the domain, and tested forms that are within the site, everything was fine, go the email notifications fine.
Now what is happening the two test form submissions I sent 5 or 6 hours ago are being sent to me like every 20 minutes.
The same two emails just keep sending to me. Can someone put some light on this please. I am trying to tell the client… yes we’re live… but I can’t do that with the same email being sent to their email in box.
I saw a message about this recently, but I think the resolution is internal. You’ll want to contact support.
It’s possible that switching off bot protection under site settings might resolve it? That’s the only new forms feature I’m aware of, but there have been a number of internal changes.
Thanks Eric, good to know.
Please share the response you get so that others know how to resolve it.
My approach is to use Basin as a 3rd party form handler, since I can eliminate spam issues that way, and also control the notification emails much better.
Hi Michael, I am assuming Basin is a pay third party feature? My client most likely won’t go for an additional expense. I thought that I read somewhere that someone had one account and controlled all of his clients emails with the one account. I may be mistaken since I lost the thread. If it is true, I would consider paying myself and having all of my clients within the program. There is a lot of spam nowadays coming from webflow and now this repeat email. They aren’t happy especially since I moved everyone of them from WordPress and now they are experiencing this. But all in all Webflow is still 100 times better then Wordpress, but my clients aren’t seeing it that way.
The exception is that since I do a lot of work for other agencies as well, I’ll occasionally setup a separate Basin account for those “external” clients who are not my clients directly.
A few reasons I might do this;
Billing controls- they can choose what plan they want
Admin controls- I want my Agency client ot have direct admin oversight
Special features, like form file uploads that are then delivered as file attachments directly on the notification emails. That’s a slightly more expensive plan than I need for my internal clients.
Privacy- I can set it up and they can take over fully
I have exactly the same issue for two websites where I just turned on the “bots are being blocked”. However, turning that off doesn’t resolve the issue. Very annoying. Hope there will be solution fast.
Day 4 with no solution from the Webflow team. Even though they told me they escalated this to the highest priority for the dev team. It doesn’t seem like Webflow’s priorities are in the right place these days.
@Dylan_Colby1 I’ve found what caused it for me. I still had the contact-page with the form submission and succes message open in one of my tabs. And that’s what triggered the new submission every time. I discovered this as it happened as soon as I opened my laptop again. Still an issue that needs to be resolved obviously…
I understand that Webflow shipped a fix for this last night.
You’ll need to re-publish your site, and that should fix the recurring form submissions.
Note that if anyone still has a browser tab open with an older version of your site, it’s possible that those tabs could continue to trigger some submissions until they are closed or refreshed.
