Filtering collections list by same option field as current post

Hello!

I’m having trouble with a collections list for a project I’m working on.

Essentially, I’m trying to build a related pages section at the bottom of a collection template. The ideal outcome is that the related pages shown only match those that have been tagged with the same option field as the current page shown.

Problem: when I go to the filter section for the collection list element and select the option field from the dropdown, I can only select static options and not “Same as current post”

Am I doing something wrong here?

It’s been awhile since I’ve built this-
But try using a Collection for your categories and a ref field instead.

I’m fairly certain that this is better supported in the filtering panel.
