I have been assigned to do some changes to an existing website and I am planning to duplicate the site first in order to do the changes and then go live. I read in the documentation that
“When you duplicate a site, all site-wide configurations such as form notification settings, form submissions, form settings, reCAPTCHA keys, backup versions, site members, teammates working in the Editor, (i.e., API keys), and billing will be reset to default.”
Does the above apply to the existing site or the new duplicated one. I want to make sure that nothing will change in the existing website.
Thanks for your reply. So I don’t have to worry about anything on the live website. Correct? Is there anything else I need to be aware of as far as the live website is concerned?
Once you’ve cloned and made your changes, I’d recommend an audit between your live site settings and your cloned site settings to see what you need to carry over. 301 redirects, apps, SEO settings, etc.
Then when you’re ready you can do you site plan transfer to the new site.
I’ve not done this in awhile so I’m not 100% certain how seamless the domain transfer to the clone is- but it should be pretty seamless especially with their most recent updates.
