My website is built in English, and I’ve been using Google Translate to provide content in other languages. But I am struggling to change the other language as default.
Is it possible to set a language other than English as the default language?
I heard about the recent localization feature released by webflow. Would this allow me to change the default language of my site and offer a more seamless mutilingual support?
Thank you so much for your time and guiding me for this matter.
So I think I found out how to do it. I have built the website in English and want to add German and Spanish. I want German to be the Primary language. Here is how it worked:
First I had already added German, and Spanish Language,
I went to the (in the designer) settings > localization
I changed the german language to Italian or whatever anything else, then changed the primary which was English to German
then changed the Italian (or whatever other language you selected) to English.
I did not publish the subdomain(webflow.io) because I will copy and paste the German text to the primary language which is German. That’s what I don’t like about this… Is that you can’t just simply switch languages, and if u worked on the website in English it’s not easy to change the primary to German after you have completed working on the site.
So just be careful to not lose the German pages you translated, and will need to copy and paste the text to the primary which is now set as German.
