Custom css in editor or preview working?

Hello I’m new here.

Is css entered in the Site Settings > Custom Code > Head, visible in editor or preview working ?

I’ve tried a basic test, but doesn’t seem to show eg:

<style type="text/css">
body {background-color: #999;}
</style>

I understand now, that at this time, it’s only possible to view custom code in a Published site.
