Converting XML DATA from Wordpress.com blog to .csv file for CMS

Hi,
I want to import the blog posts from a wordpress.com website. They allow me to export the data. The file is a .xml file that I tried to convert into .csv file using an online convertor tool.

I get this:

Then I try to enter that into the CMS fields but it doesn’t work and I don’t get anything.

Can someone help me telling me the way to convert properly XML into .CSV and then import the wordpress.com blog-posts?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @leetch,

I understand the struggle. :nerd:

I have done a lot of work with Wordpress, and I recently moved a few blog posts over to Webflow: WordPress to Webflow - YouTube

I would suggest the WP All Export plugin that allows you to export collections into a CSV file: Export any WordPress data to XML/CSV – WordPress plugin | WordPress.org

Hopefully this helps

Thanks for your (very) quick answer I’ll definitly go check your video.
Peace.

No way to get a plugin which is not 100$ worth?

@leetch

Purchasing the plugin would only be for the “Pro” version. The free version is all you would need to export your posts to CSV.

You can use the free version by clicking download at the following link Export any WordPress data to XML/CSV – WordPress plugin | WordPress.org

Thanks a lot , sorry I didn’t see it.

Is there anyway to do it without paying the enterprise fee for Wordpress?

@Eddie_Whatson => What enterprise fee are you referring to?

It doesn’t let you download plugins (WP All Export) on Wordpress without having a paid account.

@Eddie_Whatson - Maybe you missed the thread?

I can confirm this as well.

I think he was referring to the fact that Wordpress.com will not allow you to add any plugins if you don’t have a certain level Wordpress plan. (Business or higher maybe.)

I’m guessing without some type of plugin we may be out of luck?

You could install a local copy of WordPress then import the XML, install the plugin, then export the CSV. I can do this for you for a nominal fee to cover my time. Let me if you are interested.

Want to convert XML data into a CSV file? and you don’t know how to perform this task. So, don’t need to panic. Here, I recommended you can use this BitRecover XML Converter Tool. This utility Cponert XML files into email formats such as PST, MSG, OLM, EML, EMLX, MBOX, and Maildir. Also, document formats such as TXT, HTML, MHT, XPS, RTF, DOC, CSV, vCard, TIFF, BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, and PDF.

I love plugins, even paids, like figma to webflow or others.

But in this particular, I have the same iSSUE, I cannot install any pluggin the Original OLD Wordpress website is too OLD, from 2018.
I have told if I update wordpress is for sure it will colapse. And I know nothing (Jhon Snow)

So I need an external tool to convert XML to CSV.

Anny suggestions…?

@ernestorubio - Clone the site to a local install, do the upgrade. The data should be fine and you can export it with a plugin or rawdog some SQL. If you need someone to do this for you as a paid gig feel free to reach out as this is totally in my wheelhouse.

Hi everyone! I’m having some issues exporting data as a CSV or converting XML to CSV. When I export blog posts from WordPress using the all export plugin, the output includes strings of HTML code, which results in errors in the export.

For example, here’s how a single blog post appears when exported: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1m-88AyienYs4ZIp8taTAO4tiamOZ3sVcriHp89NLwpY/edit?gid=622010929#gid=622010929

does anyone have a solution for this? Thank you!

Hey Sabrina, your link is private.
XML can contain HTML content just fine, it’s designed for that, either using encoding or CDATA blocks.

If you’re getting export errors in WP, you’ll want to check the tool you’re using, sounds like it’s buggy or needs some configuration.
