CMS automatic-sliding Slick Carousel Issues

Hi everyone!

I’m pretty new to Webflow but I’m super proud of the first site we’ve launched from the agency on the platform - You can check out the live site here.

We do have one problem though - the hero event slider on the homepage is currently built using the native slider component in webflow but ideally we’d like the content in there to be driven by a cms rather than manually updated with each new event.

We managed to implement an automatically sliding cms driven carousel using the Slick Carousel however we’re finding that after the carousel cycles through a couple of times it begins to return blank results or stops working all together.

has anyone else experienced this sort of behaviour? Here’s a link to a hidden page on the live site where this is occurring and there’s a read only at the bottom of this post.

Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there,

While sliders don’t currently support automatic population from CMS collections, there’s a practical workaround you can use:

  1. Create your slider with the desired number of slides
  2. Add a Collection List element to the first slide
  3. Set the Collection List settings to show only 1 item
  4. Duplicate this slide for each item you want to display
  5. For each subsequent slide’s Collection List:
    • Keep the “Items Per Page” as 1
    • Adjust the “Start At” number to match the slide position (2 for second slide, 3 for third slide, etc.)

You can also support native CMS integration for sliders by voting on the feature request in the Webflow Wishlist.

Hopefully this helps! If you still need assistance, please reply here so somebody from the community can help.
