My client asked me to connect a new domain to the website. I’ve changed the DNS settings of the domain provider and Webflow shows it is connected, but I can’t publish it. Does anyone know why this is? Did I make a mistake in the DNS settings?
Hi @memetican, thanks for helping me out. I let the domainname provider set it up, it still shows the same. It is connected but can’t publish, maybe I have to wait for a bit?
Yes, I made the .be the default and then published it, that did the trick. But is it possible to publish it on it’s own .be domain, so no redirects? Or is that not how it works?
That generally does not work well.
You can try unsetting the default domain and republish.
It might not work at all, e.g. too many redirects, or www.www errors. Or it might partially work where www. subdomains work independently the way you’re describing, but the base domains fail.
Even if it mostly works, the sitemap will be incorrect, it will pick one of the two sites randomly and generate that way, which makes the other SEO-incompatible.
