Hello - I am trying to verify my domain for the Apple Pay Web integration.
I need to upload a txt file to the root of my domain to do this, the instructions are below:
“Instructions and Information
To verify ownership of your domain download the file and place it at the location listed below. After uploading your file continue with the verification step.
We’ll look for your file at the following location:
I attempted to use a workaround I found on Webflow forums, so I uploaded the text file to my Webflow assets, copied the url, and set a 301 redirect to redirect to that txt document. However when I visited that page, it just shows invalid .well-known request, and will not work with apple either. For what it’s worth, I have a site plan, and eCommerce plan.
The only workaround I can see is buying another webhost with FTP & SSL, and porting my site over for a day to complete domain verification.
It’s likely the verification will be re-checked intermittently, so I wouldn’t count on the “temporary domain approach” as being reliable. People shut down sites and sell domains, and Apple wouldn’t want that verification to automatically carry over to a new owner.
Otherwise there would be a market for “pre-verified Apple pay domains”
Reverse proxy. I build these custom for clients, because there are usually a number of compliance files they require-
I build custom because it’s a single build effort and then no ongoing costs, which makes more sense for my clients.
However if you prefer to pay monthly, check out https://subfold.io/
Appreciate your help and taking the time to respond.
I was able to implement it with Subfold, thankfully the trial worked. Will probably buy it or contact @memetican when it is time to re-verify in 3 months.
