Announcing the newest version of Webflow Interactions, powered by GSAP!

We’ve been busy since acquiring GreenSock Animation Platform (GSAP) last fall. At the end of April, we made GSAP, the leading animation engine on the web, 100% free for the entire web community. Together, we’ve been hard at work taking Webflow’s native interactions solution to the next level.

Today, we are thrilled to introduce the newest version of Webflow Interactions, powered by GSAP.

With this initial release, we’re unlocking:

  • The ability to craft sophisticated and performant animations powered by GSAP — without writing a single line of code. This includes leveraging GSAP favorites like SplitText, Staggers, and ScrollTrigger.
  • A completely reimagined workflow featuring a horizontal timeline and purpose-built controls that give designers and developers surgical precision over their animations — without compromising speed.
  • The ability to reuse interactions across your entire site, eliminating repetitive work and driving consistency.
  • …with so much more coming soon!

Webflow Interactions with GSAP is available to all Webflow users at no additional cost, from Starter through Enterprise plans.

At this time, the previous version of interactions will remain the default, and is labeled Classic Interactions in the version dropdown. Once you have access to Interactions with GSAP (new), you’ll be able to switch between the two versions freely.

Hey ya! I’m using the new GSAP UI - and it’s magnificent! Thank you much for this update

One really big problem that I’m facing is that when I’m trying to use it to define a hover interaction on my CMS item. Whatever I do, it affects all the items in the list!

I’ve tried using :scope .inner-card for instance, in the custom selector

I’ve tried using the interaction on the CMS item, or alternatively on a child div that contains all the other elements.

Quite lost here, I can imagine that there is a way but I’m not finding it!

Would appreciate any help!

Thanks

Loving the new GSAP enhancements Its a game changer for sure. Something I noticed is that when I try to copy Sections/Elements between projects that both have GSAP on as an option, when I paste across the new interactions do NOT copy between projects like IX2 would. is this a me problem? Am i missing something or is this a future feature you hope to add?

Thanks!

Here’s a screenshot using descendants scope for setting up individual hovers inside CMS list.

I don’t believe we support XSCP (cross site copy paste) with the new GSAP interactions, so it’s expected that tht wouldn’t work. I believe support for going cross site like this will be via Libraries but I’d have to double check!
