Will restoring a back-up change additions to CMS?

Hi, some design changes were made to front page of website, which we now want to reverse by reverting to a backup.
Will applying a backup impact just design, or does it change CMS too? We have published some reports since the design changes, and want to keep those if at all possible, rather than having to publish again.

You can preview the backup to check, but I believe that it would revert the CMS as well.

You other option is to open both the designer and the backup preview, and the use the preview as a reference to correct the changes on the homepage.
