I would like to transfer a domain from the provider “WebGO” to you, “Webflow.”
I have already upgraded this site to the “CMS” plan, which I paid for.
I am stuck. In the Site Settings, it shows that I cannot verify the domain. Please help me.
I don’t know how to transfer the domain from one provider to another. The transfer process has already been initiated with the current provider, and I have received an AuthCode. How can I use the AuthCode to successfully transfer the domain? Please help me with this. Thank you very much!
First of all, thank you for your response! Here’s a clearer explanation:
Before I took this course, I independently created a website using WordPress and at the same time bought a domain from another domain provider (WebGO). Now I have switched to Webflow and have finalized the website, so I can now create a custom domain with the already purchased Webflow “CMS” or transfer it. My current domain is with WebGO, and I would like to use it. I have already received an AuthCode for this. Now it’s up to Webflow to transfer the domain. A few days have passed, but nothing has happened yet, and I haven’t had to provide the AuthCode so far. Did I forget something? I have already tried to reach out to Webflow support, but unfortunately without success. When I try to verify the domain in the Webflow dashboard, I get this message (Screenshot 1).
Additionally, there is another message in the dashboard with three categories (Type, Name, Value). Do I need to manually enter/change this somewhere, and if so, how and where? (Screenshot 2)
I hope you understand the problem and can help me with it! :-)
I have a short update that might be interesting. I just spoke with the web host “WebGO” in Germany. They said they don’t know how Webflow works and that usually, you can enter the AuthCode that I received from them somewhere. They mentioned as a second option that they can work with me to enter/change the DNS records (the ones Webflow gave me/Screenshot 2) at WebGO, and then it somehow runs through WebGO to Webflow. However, that’s not what I want. I would like to have both the domain and hosting with Webflow and not go through a second route via WebGO to Webflow. I hope I explained that clearly. I look forward to your response. Thank you in advance! :)
Unfortunately, Webflow is not a domain registrar so you won’t be able to transfer a domain to Webflow. However, you can connect a domain you already own to a Webflow site by pointing the domain to Webflow’s servers using DNS records. You won’t be able to transfer your domain to Webflow, you’ll have to keep a domain registrar in addition to your Webflow account. In this case, you can keep WebGO as your registrar and add the DNS records from Webflow there.
