I’m thinking about starting my gaming merch ecommerce store on a subdomain while keeping the main site as it for the game. Is this a good setup for webflow, and are there any SEO or tracking or any other optimization issues I should know about before doing this?
You should be fine but if you want maximum SEO, combine them under one domain, easy enough using a reverse proxy.
Two reasons;
- If you have any good indexable content in the game site itself, you’re better off combining them together for a better overall site value strength.
- Backlinks. People are more likely to link to the game site, e.g.
www.mysite.comthan the store site e.g.store.mysite.com. Google generally views those as separate properties that may have no relation, so you’re fighting to promote two smaller sites rather than one larger more valuable site that is linked to more often.
