Rich text code block not inheriting styling in CMS content

I’m just testing out adding code blocks to CMS content

they don’t seem to inherit the styling the same way other blocks or rich media does e.g images/figures etc.

In my example, i’ve just rounded 2 corners and added a box shadow - this isn’t carried over into the CMS rich text content unlike figures which DO inherit styling in this way

I found out a way to do it with help from Chris Soul’s blog post on styling code blocks.

Looks like the only way to do it is using custom code :pensive:
