Problem with Webflow search feature

I’m having a real difficult time with the Webflow search feature. For context, I’m creating a platform that allows musicians to book studio time more easily - think Airbnb but for music studios.

Problem is when I try to style the Search Results page (see photo below), the search index pulls info from seemingly random parts of the website. How do I make it pull data from the CMS collection list of music studios I created?

In other words, when some searches for music studios in a particular city (e.g. Los Angeles), how do I configure the search results to only show studios in that city?

I’ve already watched the Webflow tutorial by Aron Korenblit and did not find it helpful.

Webflow’s site search feature is designed for site search. You could in theory go to every other page’s settings and exclude it from search but that would be a pain and might not fully work.

That’s a filtering feature- you want Finsweet CMS Filter + CMS Load in order to build that.

Does site search not include scanning CMS filters? Aren’t those part of the site?

My goal is achieve a design similar to Google, meaning the staring page is just a search bar and nothing else. Then once items are searched, a list of relevant items is shown.

Again, site search is for site search, it will include your CMS pages if they match, but It’s just a full text search across the entire site. Overall it has fairly limited controls and presentation options, as you’ve already seen.

Yes I build these for clients all the time.
Hit me up if you need some work on the integration, but Finsweet CMS Filter + CMS Load are what you want.
