Native currency conversation

Is there any roadmap toward a currency conversion feature?

A huge chunk of my sales base would be from the United States, but if I were to cater my prices toward that market, I would isolate my own demographic (Australia).

Stripe payments, AFAIK, support this natively. Why doesn’t Webflow, which uses Stripe for its ecommerce processing?

I’ve been looking for solutions for this but they all seem to entail purchasing a 3rd-party solution. I can’t help but notice that this is a recurring issue with a lot of WF features… are the third parties built into the business model, or something?

To be clear, the payments do not have to be processed in any particular currency - rather, we should have the ability to at least display different currencies depending on user location.

When you will take a look into who are main stake holders (investors) for WF and these services (eg. Zapier …) you would not ask.

A better way for now is to use a cheap / large-free-tier 3rd party service for the conversion and then display the converted price as an estimate. The user would still pay in the actual currency of your site, but it’s useful to show them what that equates to at today’s currency exchange rates.

You can couple this with a GeoIP service to auto-detect their country, and then map that to a currency for your calculation.

I actually prefer this approach long-term because it’s difficult for client to stay on top of exchange rates and keep all of their market-specific pricing variants in sync.

Hi @RKH916.
Josh with Foxy here. You might consider our seamless Webflow integration: https://foxy.io/webflow

We support multi-currency and handle rate conversions for you (via openexchangerates.org). Products are 100% managed with Webflow CMS and price displayed will show in whatever currency is chosen (with updated rate).

Since our checkout supports multiple payment sets, you can allow customers to pay in chosen currency too.

Happy to chat further if you have any questions. Please don’t hesitate to reach out: hello@foxy.io

Thanks,
Josh

Hey @RKH916

Not sure if Monto was one of the 3rd party solutions you came across earlier but our Currency Converter app can do this seamlessly in Webflow Ecommerce!

We offer automatic real-time currency conversion based on your user’s location.

We also have manual conversion methods that you can offer customers to switch between common currencies such as USD and AUD.

All payments are made in your own local currency and your set prices are unchanged.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hello!

Although Webflow doesn’t natively support currency conversion like Stripe does, I can implement a solution for you. By integrating a third-party tool, we can display prices in different currencies based on user location, ensuring your sales base in both the U.S. and Australia is effectively catered to.

Let’s discuss the details further and get this set up for you!

Thanks
