Multisite Approach / localized content / Multiple Domains

Hi there,

I know this question got asked a couple of times over the years, but features are evolving, so maybe theres different approaches as of now.

There are three domains:

Each domain is more or less the same page structure, but with localized content. I think they want the ease of one central CMS to “feed” alls those pages. Its not necessarily the language which changes, i guess they have the same language (englisch). But the have:

  • different testimonials (from cms)
  • different case studies (from cms)
  • different blog (from cms)
  • different SEO
  • probably different google tag’s

How would you approach this? Should they just have three sites within their Webflow account? Or make use of the localization feature, but is it capable of this situation?

I mean: what would be the state-of-the-art advise for this? How to structure this? They said, many big companies nowadays have multiple pages for their different markets (in different countires). Whats you opinion on this?

Thanks a lot!

Use Webflow’s localization feature with country-specific subdirectories (e.g., domain.com/ch/) to manage regional content dynamically while filtering CMS items based on location. If unique SEO, Google Tags, or country-specific domains are required, separate Webflow sites for each domain are better, syncing shared CMS content via Webflow’s API or automation tools like Make/Zapier. For optimal regional SEO and branding, individual sites per domain are ideal, aligning with how large companies handle multi-market presence.

Webflow’s Localization does not support the assignment of ccTLD’s. You could use WeGlot or a similiar 3rd party product if you need that.

Otherwise your options are;

  • 1 Webflow localized size, using its native subdirectory approach e.g. /ch/, /de/, etc.
  • 3 separate sites, 3 separate CMS, manually localized content.

There is also the possibility of using 1 Webflow localization site, with an advanced reverse proxy setup to “split” the site into separate domains. Discrete sitemaps, adjusted paths and hreflang links, rewritten links, etc.
