Locale Image in locale picker losing CMS connection

Hey folks!
I have a drop-down locale picker in my site header, displaying the current locale when closed and a list of locales when opened. Each list item has an img element (connected to the locale image) and a text element (connected to the locale ISO code). The goal is to display the country flag and ISO code for each item.

After publishing, this works great. However, when I go to a different page and back in the editor, the img element in the dropdown loses its connection with the corresponding locale image. So each time I republish the site, I need to go in and connect it again, or it comes out with the same image (as it’s lost the connection).

I can not for the life of me figure out what makes it drop the connection (especially since the ISO code remains untouched). Kind of tearing my hair out at this point - any help would be greatly appreciated. :raising_hands:

When working with localized images, it’s important to follow specific workflows to maintain connections across pages. To ensure your locale images work correctly:

Upload your images directly through the Localization settings panel rather than the Assets panel. This creates the proper connections needed for the locale switcher to function correctly across your site.

If you’re experiencing connection issues, try these steps:

  • Double-check that your images are uploaded in the Localization panel for each specific locale
  • Ensure the image field is properly connected to your locale settings
  • Save your changes and refresh the Designer to reset any temporary connection issues
