Implementing filter option with finsweet

Hi there,

I am trying to implement a filtering option for the customer using this Finsweet: CMS Filter for Webflow - No-code using Attributes, but I cannot quite get my head around it.

I want to connect the CMS list, so that when I click on a category (also in a CMs list), it only shows me the CMS items with that category.

Thanks a lot!

Here is my site Read-Only: [1]
(how to share your site Read-Only link)

Hi @Maja_Veis!

Without a read-only link is hard to get help.

Anyway I’ll try

  • Add the fs-cmsfilter-element:list attribute to the CMS Items list
  • Make sure that all the categories Filter UI elements are in one form with the attribute fs-cmsfilter-element:filters
  • Add the fs-cmsfilter-field:IDENTIFIER attribute to both the categories text (not the checkbox but the checkbow text) and the category text in the cms items

I hope this makes sense.
Ideally add your read-only link

Ciao!

Hi again, sorry about that.

It is added now. Let me see if I get it right:

Does not work,so there must be a mistake. Is value referring to the class of the collection list, som if I rename from “collection list” to “blogpost” do I need to write “blogpost” in the value for smsfilter-field?

Thanks a lot for your help!

I see now, that the cmsfilter-element:filters ony works for form elements as you write…howeever I am not sure it works for my setup.

What I want is to be able to pick multiple categories/filters. For that I do not think the radio button would work.

Ideally it would be so, that you are able to pick several categories within the same segment/question for instance (“with kids”, “simple lliving”) . It should den show you guides “with kids” AND “simple living” (both criterias met)

From another segment/question names “country”, you can pick one or more for instance “Norway” (If you pick more than one country, for instance “Norway and Denmark” it should show you guides from Norway OR Denmark (either criteria met)

SO - If you pick “with kids”, “Simply” living" (from one segment) and then “Norway” from another segment, it shows you all the CMS items for Norway, where you can go with kids AND the trip is simple living (like tenting in the nature).

Not sure if it makes sence, I have tried to illustrate it her.

Maybe it takes a lot of coding…then I will try and make a more simple filtering system…

If easier it could also work, that it shows CMS items (guides) for either of the selected category. So in the examples: all guides with “simple living”, “with kids” and “norway” (independent of each other)

Hey @Maja_Veis looks like a checkbox rather than a radio button will be a good option for what you described here (if i get you correctly)

Yes I think you are right, thanks :) Do you know how to connect it to the CMS items, so it works as a filter option?

i add the checkbox in the form that has the attributes fs-cmsfilter-element with value filters

to make it easier, i create a new collection. The items in this collection are all the texts i want to filter with

i add a checkbox in the collection and set the checkbox text label to the name of the collection item, then set the attribute fs-cmsfilter-field with value “filter” or any identifier, i use the same identifier for both filter category

Hi. Thanks for quick reply. I think I get it, however I haven’t managed to make the filter work.

I made a collection list (how-to-travel) with the form inside with fs-cmsfilter-element: filters.

The colleciion list of the CMT items (the guides I want to be filters by category) is named fs-cmsfilter-element: list

Hi!

Check this loom out

and here’s the read-only link if you want to check my test filter
and live link

Let me know how it goes

Hi Maria,

Wow, thanks a lot for making this :) I just have a quick view and will look mere into it in the week. Thanks for being such a kind soul :)

Do you think finsweet filter could be used for filtering with several option like this:

  1. What country do you want to go to? (visitor chooses Norway)
  2. How do you wanne travel (visitor choosen hiking)
  3. How do you prefer to sleep (visitor chooses tent).

The the guides that are show, are only those which have all three criterias. So the guide has to be in norway AND be hiking AND be in tent.

Makes sence? Just like we know it from clothing brands like this page: https://www.zalando.dk/toej/. Where you can choose size, brand etc at it only show for instance:

T-shirt in size M from Adidas (however I don’t want dropdown but checkbox)

Again thanks a lot!

Hi @Maja_Veis

Check the Option Match

I updated the project too

Let me know if you need help with it :)
