Hi all! I have recently done up a site on webflow (link here). it works if you click directly on the link. However, in site search, I have the problem with the favicon not showing, the meta description and title tag not being the ones I have set in the Webflow designer.
How long has it been since you’ve published the site with the favicon added? I ask because it will take much longer to populate in the google search results page vs. the one you see in the browser’s address area.
" Google looks for and updates your favicon whenever it crawls your home page. If you make changes to your favicon and want to inform Google about the changes, you can request indexing of your site’s home page. Updates can take a few days or longer to appear in search results."
Hi @Port_of_Folio! Yes, but I did not change my favicon since I published the site under my new domain. I published the site with the new domain along with the favicon.
Unless, you mean that it does not matter whether I published it in the staging domain or my current domain?
I’m saying that it takes a while for Google to index the site, and in turn, a favicon will not load on a results page until that has happened. Specifically, since this is the first time you’re launching the site under the new domain.
Have you taken any steps to speed up the google indexing process? Webflow University article below is a good place to start and there are additional things you can do along with your map, Google Search Console and site verification.
I understand. My site, and all 8 pages are already successfully indexed according to Google Search Console as I submitted the sitemaps and everything about 4 days ago. I went to Google Search Console again and found that the favicons differ based on this.
Hello @travistgr, like @Port_of_Folio mentioned, it might take some time on your end to update the favicon, but your favicon has been indexed by google
I hope this helps!
